Hi everyone,

My name is Grecia and I am applying to be a community leader. I've decided to follow Kai's example and post my application here for you guys to read and decide, based on my interactions with those of you I've met, as well as what's said here. Regardless of whether or not I get elected, I hope we as a community choose with the best of intentions, and are happy with the results, in the end.
Well, here we go..

Why are you interested in being a community leader?: I'm interested in becoming a community leader because I feel I could do the job relatively well. I'm very subtle, but I'm good with people, and I have a way of communicating with them to make them want to listen to me. I'm fair, unbiased, and can get along with all sorts of people. I'm objective, and have the patience to listen to the things people have to say. i'm intuitive, innovative, and most of all, an observer.

What previous experience have you had with The Zone BBS?: I've been an active member on the site since March of 2009, and I'm always generally around somewhere. I've been on both the phone system, and the voice chat system, therefore, I wouldn't have a problem dealing with any of these three things.

What previous computer experience do you have? How comfortable are you with use of websites and other Internet applications?: I do relatively well with computers, I would say. I don't claim to know everything. but what I do know, I know pretty well. I'm a quick learner and don't mind taking time out to train myself on things, as I am very good with following instructions.

Much of your job as community leader is dealing with users' questions. What previous experience have you had that would help you in this area?: I feel that I could provide people with clear concise instructions on how to fix things they have problems with. I have plenty of patience, and don't mind going one on one with people if they need help.

What would you do in a situation where you are asked a question and are unsure of the answer?: If I am unsure of the answer, I will try to find it first. Whether that be with google, or with the help of other people that may know more than I do. If any of those options are not available to me, then I will have no other choice than to refer them to any of the other fellow community leaders/admins.

As community leader, you have access to information which users and premium members do not. (Note that you do not have access to passwords, billing information, or the ability to change points.) What do you feel are appropriate and inappropriate uses of this information?: I feel that classified information would come in handy if and when you're trying to help a user fix anything wrong with their account, depending on what we have access to. I understand that all of the information I would have access to would be confidential, and should therefore not be shared with any other users, no matter the circumstances. I don't believe that having access to this information in any way changes the status of who I am as a person, and for the most part, I would not even really make it known, unless i was asked to.

As community leader, you have the ability to edit and delete board posts and entire topics. What are situations in which it would be appropriate or inappropriate to use these abilities?: I feel that the board topics are a fare and interactive way to express facts, opinions, or share information. However, when the topics get out of hand, (offensive, or begin to cause problems for any of the users,) it's time for them to go. But I feel that that would be a last resort, and that people should work through their differences. After all, who am I to say what is right, or what isn't, if there isn't a blatant violation of the terms of services there to be adhered to?

When is it appropriate to disable a user's account?: I feel that disabling a user's account would also have to be a last resort. However, I understand that some people can not coexist with others in a peaceful manner. In such cases, anything from harassment, to bullying, to crashing screen readers warrants the disabling of an account.

How much time per week can you commit to being a community leader?: For the time being, I'm generally always around. I'm also easy to get ahold of if need be.

How would you deal with conflicts of interest such as being close friends with someone on The Zone and having to do something against your friend's wishes, or a situation where your friend tried to sway your decision?: Though I do actually take friendship very seriously, I understand that this job is not my own and that I am not the only one that has a say. I stand by the reasoning that, if it wasn't me that caught the act, someone else would. And, in either case, the decision would be the same.

What do you feel sets you apart from other applicants?: I understand that many many compitant people have filled out this application. However, what I have going for me that sets me apart from most, is my willingness to listen objectively, my fairness, and my powers of intuition, observation, and empathy.

What other information would you like to tell us? You must write something. Interests? Favorite fruit?: Um, oh dear. I don't know? I'm pretty genuine and down to earth? My favorite fruit is tropical. Wait, is this what's going on my profile if I get elected? Turn it off!

If you've made it to the end of this, thank you for taking the time to read this. As I say, may we end up with the best person for the job.
